Okay so I admit I was trying not to study when I saw this. Along the top navigation bar there is a button for chat. If you click it a live chat box will open. login and you're there to talk with everyone in real time. It is a java application so you may need to make sure Java is updated. There is also a feature along the bottom toolbar on the chat page that will let you float the chat out of the box or dock it back within the page. The only draw back I found so far is that you have to have two tabs open on the site in the browser otherwise you can't chat and navigate the forum at the same time. It's pretty cool and no constant refreshing of the cbox.
