1000 years ago, the Great Elementals, led by the Earth Elementals Gaia Elfwood, sought to destroy a great evil that beset the world during their time known only as The Void. They searched without ever finding it until suspicions began to settle among them that there may be a traitor.
This suspicion began to tear the Elementals' unity apart. They argued constantly. They would also be suspicious of everything the others did.
Then, they discovered Thalmor Dalk, there Elemental of Darkness, truly was a traitor and The Void.
They fought Thalmor, but he escaped. They chased him back and forth across Malnor, but they still could not catch him. Eventually,
Thalmor came to settle in Orlin. He killed the members of the High Senate there and installed himself as the new ruler. Now with armies backing him up, he the other Elementals had no othe choice but to turn to the races of Malnor to help them but an end to this.
A long and bloody war followed that claimed many, many lives. Eventually, however, Orlin was taken, and Thalmor Dalk was defeated. With nowhere to run, finally, he stood and fought all of the other Elementals, and lost. Instead of striking the ending blow, however, Gaia, having determined that Thalmor was being possessed(but not having shared this knowledge) sealed The Void away to never disturb the peace of Malnor again.
