Brianna cursed herself for dirtying her good blouse, but gave in and just left the dirt there. She adjusted her seat beside the pot and waited for Simon to return. It didn't take long before the good looking man to return with the water. "Oh, thank you," she said, moving to her knees. "Could you pour it in for me? I have a heck of a time getting it in there by myself." She smiled at him her warm and sweet smile as she tilted the bucket to allow him to pour in the water.

"Why sure thing miss." Simon said as he poured the water for Brianna. "So what brings a young gal like you out in these wild woods?" Simon asked, setting down the bucket and taking a seat on a nearby log. He tilted his hat up and took a rest, unhitchiing his large drill and setting it on the ground.

Brianna watched Simon set the large drill down like it weighed little more than his hand. He was strong and comfortable. "Just getting away," she said casually, looking into the pot to hide her reddening face. "The tavern was home enough, but I wanted to get out and see the world. What about you? What's a good looking, strong man like you doing way out here without a woma-" She cut herself off and focused on the stew over the fire.

Simon smiled, "Well life would be fairly nice in a tavern I belive, such good stories out there. I'm out here just seeing world you know. I've lived most my life down under the ground digging, I am a miner you see." Simon said gesturing to the large drill. "There always is so many interesting things out on the surface, and many pretty things as well." he said with a smile.

Brianna blushed and dumped some spices into the pot. "There were some interesting things there," she said, meaning the tavern. "But when your father takes a different woman to bed every night and leaves you alone to manage the business, it's not very fun. There were times when. . .nevermind." She shook her head and pushed the memories to the back of her mind.

"I'm sorry to hear" Simon said with a frown. "How could such a man be cruel to such a fine young miss? It's unheard of." Simon did not have much experience out on the surface, and perhaps even less experience with women. There were very few women miners, even in the penal colony he was raised in.

Brianna looked up at Simon without a smile, her eyes dark in the memories she couldn't force down. "They aren't men," she said, shuddering at the thought. "More like perverted animals with no self control." Without another word, she stood and walked casually away towards the other side of the camp. She turned and covered her mouth, her cheeks bright red. She was standing and her ankle was fine. With a wide smile, she looked down and picked up a bag of spices and herbs to sumpliment the ones she had already put in.

Simon slammed his fist down on the log, splintering it where he hit. "Such horrible treatment of a lady is just unacceptable" He stared into the fire angrily "Such men should never see the light of day."

Brianna jumped back at his violent response, suddenly wary of him. "They are monsters, yes," she said. "But I wouldn't wish any harmed or killed for it. Punished in prison, yes, but never killed or tortured."She moved another step away, keeping her eyes fixed on him. He was attractive, but also slightly scary. She had mixed feelings, wanting to get closer and touch him, but also to flee. She couldn't decide which to listen to.

"No, I do not wish them harm, simply a life of hard work underground. Let them work all day and never again experience the joy of the surface." Simon said with a slight smile as he looked up at the sky. "I'm sorry miss, I may have been a bit out of line. I just don't think it right to misstreat the most precious things in this world."

Brianna smiled at Simon, hoping she was right in listening to the more happy side. "I'm glad you see me as one of them," she said with a slight blush, moving closer and sitting beside him. She smiled from him to the cooking pot, playing with her hair.

Simon was fighting down a blush of his own, and began toeing the dirt with his shoe. Digging always was a calming thing for him, he had been doing it all his life. "So... miss, where will you go after this? Do you have family or friends nearby you can travel with?" Simon said, attempting to break the silence with small talk. It sure did not help that Brianna was an enchanting woman.

Brianna smiled at Simon's questions, shaking her head and causing her soft curls to juggle about her shoulders and back. "No," she said, risking a look at him with bright red cheeks. "I'm alone out here. How about you? Don't you have a wife or someone to get back to?"

Simon chuckled, "No the only wife, mother, or woman I've known well is the earth." Simon looked to the ground thoughtfully, "I've spent so much time there, I feel more at home there then anywhere else." that being said, Simon looked over at Brianna. Seeing her blushing cheeks and dancing curls, he found himself with a smile reaching ear to ear, before quickly looking away with a nervous chuckle. Having brought himself under control again, he glanced at Brianna, "So um... miss, I never did get your name...." Simon said before quickly adding in, "The food does smell quite delcious by the way."

Brianna smiled at Simon, turning her face away as she tried to rub the red from her cheeks. Once she had control again, she turned to face him and smiled warmly. "My name is Brianna," she said softly, again looking from the ground to his face and curling her hair behind her ear closest to him. "Thank you. For helping me. But please don't say the food is good when you haven't even had any. You might not be thanking me for it later." She laughed softly to herself, then stood and walked to the pot, stirring it slowly. "It should be done in a few more minutes."

'Brianna, what a wonderful name.' Simon thought to himself. He watched her as she got up, and began stirring the pot. To his joy and embaressment, the curves of her body could be seen through her outfit. Simon swallowed hard and mouthed the words "wow," before standing up and standing up walking over. "So, miss Brianna, " he said with a smile, "what's cooking?"

Brianna smiled at Simon as he came over. "Just some beef stew," she said. "I hope you eat meat." She laughed a little and tasted some, the broth falling down her chin.

Simon quickly reacted to the broth dribbling down her chin. Whithout thinking he brushed his hand against her soft neck, whiping away the broth. Realising what he had done, he quickly placed his hands behind his back and rocked back on his heals. "Heh, sorry about that Brianna, but uh, yeah, heh, broth." He said with a wink and a nervous laugh. 'I'm such an idiot.' he thought to himself.

Brianna smiled at Simon, reaching behind him to grab his hand lightly. She held it to the hem of her skirt as she wiped the broth from his hand. "Thank you," she said softly, still holding his hand as she looked up at him.

Her hands were so soft and warm. Staring into her eyes he felt drawn into her. Without even noticing, he felt himslef drawing closer to her. "If this is too sudden, I'm sorry but..." he whispered before his free hand rested on her neck lightly, his lips gently pressed against hers.
