Brianna sat on the bench over looking the path in the trees, dreaming as she usually did. With a sigh, she stood and walked off down the path, playing with grass in her fingers as she walked. As her eyes watched the path before her feet, she began to smile, lifting her head towards the heavens as a small tear trailed down her cheek. "Someday," she told herself as she began to twirl and dance to music only she could hear. Her short skirt flew out from her as she spun, standing like a saucer around her hips. She laughed to herself, turning from the path and running through the trees as she chased the rabbits and squirrels. She stopped at the base of one tree, looking up at the angry rodents as they cursed at her in their little squeaks. She looked around at the sound of a snapping twig. That loud and odd sound usually warned of a large predator. Instinctively, Brianna, put her back to the tree, looking around as all the shadows suddenly appeared threatening. She forced herself to remain calm, taking a deep breath and moving forward. A shadow moved and she started to run.

Simon dusted himself off, it had been a while since he traveled above ground, and it was always a nice change of pace. The birds, the grass, so many new smells, and always much better than just the damp smell of earth. In the distance he saw a young girl running. "Now what could that be about?" He asked to himself. "He you ok over there?" Simon shouted.

Brianna turned at the sound of someone shouting. With her eyes and attention suddenly drawn away, she fell forward onto the grass of the forest floor. A loud snap echoed across the forest as she broke branches and caught her ankle. She called out before she could stifle herself as her ankle twisted and sent rivers of pain up her leg.

"Hold on there little missy!" Simon yelled as he ran towards her, hand on his hat and a cloud of dust trailing behind him. He caught up the her and crouched down with concern, "You ok? Looks like you may have hurt yourself?" Simon asked with concern. Looked like she was an elf girl, but what was she doing out here?

Brianna tried to move away from the man as he came close, but her foot was caught and it hurt. She looked at him. A human. She'd never seen one in person before, only heard about them. "I'm. . .I'm fine," she lied, trying to hide the pain in her eyes. "Just got caught is all." She smiled warmly, but was still a little wary of the man.

She was quite a cute elf he thought to himself, she looked fairly young as well. "Well you hold tight there little miss and I'll get your leg free then." He said with a friendly smile. It looked like she had got her foot caught in a root, those things were always so pesky when digging. He pulled out his pick axe and worked it under the root, and pulled back on the handle to force the root up, freeing the elf. "There you go miss, Simon Kammina at your service." he said with a bow and a removal of his hat, showing off his slightly pointed ears and a dusty mop of hair.

Brianna pulled herself away slightly, but not in a rude manner. She had to be polite at least. "Thank you, Simon Kammina," she said with a smile as she pulled her foot closer to her, careful not to let her skirt fall open. "My name is Brianna. I thought you were human, but you have kind of pointy ears." She smiled wider. Even though he was dirty, he looked rather handsome for a human. "Well, I really should be going." She had a thought. It was an old trick that always worked in stories, so she thought she'd try it. Standing up, Brianna leaned against the tree. With another smile and thank you, she started to walk away, but when she put pressure on her ankle, it gave way beneath her and she began to fall.

Simon rushed forward and grabbed Brianna. "Aww shoot miss, looks like you did hurt your ankle. You best not put too much weight on it." Simon said with an arm on her shoulder and on on her waist. Realising where he had grabbed her he quickly and embaresingly stepped back, making sure as to not let her fall. "Quite sorry about that miss, but you were falling. As for the ears, well I got a bit O' mixed blood to me." He said with a sheepish grin.

Brianna smiled. He had nice hands. "It's quite alright," she said, pushing herself up again. "Thank you again, Simon. Uh. . .do you think I could ask you for a favor? It seems you're right and my ankle is hurt. Do you think you could walk me to the nearest place I could rest up? I hate to ask, but it seems I'm a little. . .well, disadvantaged at the moment." She continued her warm, and slightly blushing, smile as she wiped one of her long locks from her face, hooking it behind her ear as she cleared her throat.

Simon smiled warmly and tipped his hat to the young woman. "Why of course miss, but I ain't quite familiar with the area sadly, I'm just a'wanderin through myself. Still," Simon said as he tapped his chin absently with one finger, "I could carry you as far as you needed." Simon looked around slowly, trying to figure out where the closest town may be. "I'm sorry miss but you don't happen to know where that may be do you miss...?" Simon asked polite as can be.

Brianna blushed and looked away. "I'm afraid not," she said. "I've just been wandering for a day through these woods. I made a small camp not too terribly far away, but it's not exactly comfortable. If you wish, I can tell you how to get there and you can drop me off and be on your way." She smiled back at him, her cheeks now under her control.

Simon nodded, and smiled "Well miss, if that's what you wish then it shall be." Simon said before effortlessly picking up Brianna. "Now which way miss? I don't really have anything to do myself, just wandering for wandering's sake." He said, following Brianna's directions to head towards her camp.

Brianna put her arm around Simon's shoulders, holding herself up as they began to walk towards her small camp just to the East. "Thank you again, Simon," she said softly, hopping as they went. "I can't give you anything for you troubles, I'm afraid. All I have a some food."

Simon grinned sheepishly "Naw you don't need to worry about me now miss, its no trouble at all. Why its a pleasure to help out a fine young woman in itself." Simon was getting hungry now that he thought of it. "But you know, I'm sure you probably could cook a fella nice proper meal, though by no means do I wish to impose on ya." Simon said with a stomach growling.

Brianna laughed, shaking her head. "You might not want to try my cooking," she said as she leaned a little more on him. He was strong and comfortable. "But I'll try to make you something that won't take too long. You must be in a hurry." She smiled, occasionally testing her ankle to see how it was feeling. She still couldn't walk on it, so she clung to Simon.

"Well now miss, I've lived a good portion of my life digging underground and I must say I've had quite the foul mess for a meal, I'm sure a lovely thing like you can cook much better than dirty men in a dusty tunnel with little light." Simon could feel her holding on tight to him, he couldn't help it, she was clinging due to her injury, boy... she sure was soft and warm. "I am definatly in no rush though, got nowhere to go, and nothing to do really." he said with a grin

Brianna smiled at Simon as they walked, slowly leaning her head on his shoulder as they neared her camp. "Thank you," she said as she hopped to a rock and sat down. She looked up at him again, then back down. If he was clean, he would probably be very attractive, she told herself. "Well, I'll start cooking. If you want, there's a stream just on the other side of that hill. You could go clean up and come back. You look awfully dirty and could use a bath." She smiled widely at him, then hopped to her pots and pans and set them beside the ring of stones she used for a campfire.

Simon looked at himself and patted his shirt, the cloud of dust that came off led him to believe she was right. "Well then I suppose I should get myself a bit of a bath then shouldn't I?" he said with a sheepish grin. With that said Simon wandered down to the stream and proceeded to wash himself off, as well as giving his clothes a good de-dusting. He quickly dried himself off and made his way back towards the camp, cleaner.

As Simon left, Brianna quickly ran about the camp, finding her dried meats and beans and some bread. She stood and poured the meat and other ingredients into a large pot she set over the fire. She quickly sat down, putting her leg out as if her ankle was still hurt, as she waited for Simon. He came back sooner than she thought possible and smiled at him. "That was fast," she said as she stared at him. With the first layer of dirt gone, he was actually rather handsome. "You look much better. But could you do one more thing for me? I hate to ask it, but could you go get some water to fill the pot? I have a bucket right here." She leaned over, her chest on the ground, and pulled a bucket over to her. She laughed at herself and covered chest. She had gotten dirt all over her blouse. She grinned up at him and handed him the bucket. "Please?" She tilted her head to the side and smiled, blinking her eyes.

"Why sure thing, won't be but a moment." Simon said with a smile as he took the bucket and headed off towards the river once more whistling a tune. He did so love the outside world, was always such interesting things to see, do and people to meet. Simon made sure and filled the bucket to the top. It was a large amount of water, but should be plenty for the miss. He turned around and proceeded to head back to camp whislting his tune.
