"Not at all," Thalmor said,"You're just a person who feels very comfortable in the unkown. Me, however....I'm not quite so comfortable there. I prefer to stay within the bounds of what is known when I can." Thalmor smiled over at Eavan. "And, what you were just saying had a sort of poetic feel to it. You have a way with words, Eavan. Why are you an assassin instead of a writer?"

Eavan took a deep breath as she gazed down at the floor. “I answered a call to duty for a cause higher than the individual needs of one person.” She shifted again, pulling her other leg beneath her. “My father instilled within me the sense of duty to protect those who could not protect themselves. Joining the shades seemed like a way to further that sense. Working in the shadows, becoming another person to carry out a goal, to make the world safer for all, a writer cannot affect the world in quite the same way as I do now. Though lately I wonder what effect I truly have.”

Thalmor nodded his understanding. He knew exactly how Eavan felt. He'd felt the same way at points during their adventures trying to find The Void. "I don't know how much good you've done up to this point, but......," he paused, unsure of how to continue,"But.....you're doing good here. You've helped give me hope that I might finally be able to get rid of The Void. "I've actually finally got something to live for."

“I am glad to hear that.” She held her hand out as if to touch his cheek. It rested on the air just shy of where the illusion of Thalmor sat beside her. “We will do this. You will defeat him.” She smiled softly as she looked at him. Her eyes held hope and something else within them.

Thalmor smiled over at Eavan, his hand reaching up as if to touch hers. But, it passed right through. "Ah, dammit," he muttered, "I forgot I was illusory." Then, he chuckled a little. "I know we'll make it out of this. After a thousand years.....I'm ready for it."

She closed her eyes as she felt a sensation pass through her. “Yes,” she said as she looked at him. “We will make it through.” She laid back on the bed, her eyes still holding him within her gaze as she sighed. “It won’t be easy I know but I will be here for you.”

Thalmor smiled at Eavan as he laid back and closed his eyes. "Thank you, Eavan," he said,"I'm glad to finally hear that." He opened his eyes and looked over at her. "I should probably be going. The Void should be waking up soon," he said.

Eavan felt her heart sink a little at Thalmor’s words. “Yes, I suppose so.” She told him as she smiled looking at him. “I’m sorry our time has ended so soon.” Her voice drifted softly to him. “I wonder what lies in store today.” Her mind turned back into the seriousness of the situation at hand. “Go now Thalmor. Do not chance being found out.”

"I won't be back tonight," he said,"I need to let my body get some rest. I'll be back within two nights, though. So don't worry when I don't come back, okay?" Thalmor looked over at Eavan. "Just be careful during your 'lessons', okay? There's no telling what The Void will try to make you do," he said, looking at Eavan with concern.

Nodding her understanding, Eavan looked to the door. She turned her eyes back on him. “Alright I will look forward to seeing you then. Please don’t worry about me. I’ll be fine.” She looked deeper into Thalmor’s eyes. “I will do whatever it takes.”

"I'll try not to," Thalmor said. He just lay there for a few more moments, staring deeply into Eavan's eyes. Then, he closed his own and let out a sigh, dispelling the illusion. Then, he lay back and quickly slipped into sleep....

Eavan ran her hand lightly over the bed as she closed her eyes. Her mind touched Thalmor before he disappeared within her thoughts. Eavan feel into the embrace of sleep deeply. Her time would be short but she would make good use of it to replenish her strength.

The next few days turned out to be interesting for The Void. He threw another few 'lessons' at Eavan, testing her and pushing her limits and making her learn to think on the fly about how to use her elemental powers. Then, the night of the third day came around, and Thalmor took back control of his body. He got up from the bed and walked over to the shadows and shadow-teleported to Eavan's room, where he saw her sleeping. He walked over to the bed and quietly laid down beside her, watching her with a smile on his face.

Eavan stirred softly feeling breath on her cheek. Her eyes opened slowly to see Thalmor watching her. “I was dreaming.” She whispered softly. “Now I wonder.” She blinked her eyes, clearing sleep from them. Her lips parted as if to speak but she stopped herself. Her hand lifted to brush his dark hair back from his face. She smiled as her hand touched upon the warmth of skin. “I missed you.” Her bare form shifted beneath the sheets, moving closer to him.

Thalmor smiled at Eavan as she moved closer to him. "But you barely know me," he said, laughing at her and moving a little closer himself. They laid there for a few minutes just looking at each other, and then Thalmor broke the silence. "So, what're we going to talk about tonight?"

Eavan grinned, “Do I make you nervous? I can put something on if it bothers you. I spend so much time in the field dressed in leather, I find the few opportunities to feel sheets and the softness of a bed against my skin too appealing to pass up.” She took a breath as she chuckled softly. “Cookies. We could talk about cookies or you could tell me what it was like to be with the Great Elementals.”

"Of course you don't make me nervous!" Thalmor said with a laugh,"It's fine with me. It's not like I haven't seen you naked before.
"And why don't we talk about cookies? I really like the chocolate chip cookies. What kind is your favorite?" Thalmor grinned and laughed at Eavan as he finished speaking.

“True enough.” Eavan said as the sheets shifted over her as she squirmed to get comfortable. “I personally love chocolate chip cookies. Haven’t had any for a long, long time though.”

"Well, now, to answer your other question," Thalmor said, "Traveling with the Elementals was.....interesting. Gaia and Max would always poke and make fun of me and Trein. Crystal would always get onto them about it while Pernon just kind of sat off to the side being.....well, being antisocial. Trein was a chronic womanizer. Ever new town we stopped in, he would go straight to the nearest brothel and would stop and hit on every woman he saw. It was actually really hilarious, because he got slapped every time." Thalmor laughed remembering his old friends. "We really were quite a bunch, to be honest," he said,"You'd never have thought that they would be the ones to save Malnor."

Eavan listened with keen interest as Thalmor spoke of the Elementals of old. “They were also regular people unlike the stories that have risen around them. I like them better the way you speak of them.” Her eyes sparkled with amusement as he told of their exploits.
