"Of course we were all just regular people!" Thalmor said, laughing,"What have they done, turned them into legendary heroes who were all right and no wrong? "If they did, then they certainly didn't know Max very well. He was a former thief! And, he even did some thieving while we were trying to find The Void! "So, we were all far from perfect heroes."

Eavan nodded. “Actually they have. You know how history has a habit of changing to reflect the wishes of those who retell it.” She looked at Thalmor and smiled a soft smile. “I think I would have liked them.” Her violet eyes held him tightly within her gaze as her white hair fanned out over the bed beneath her. She rolled to her side resting her head on her fist. “I do not believe in perfect heroes. Only people who do what they must despite their own fear.”

"Yes, I know what you mean," Thalmor said,"And I'm sure you would have. There was hardly a moment when we didn't laugh with each other until The Void possessed me. Afterward, though......everything just kind of fell apart. Everyone but Gaia thought I was a traitor. So.....the best friends I'd ever had essentially hated me in death." Thalmor closed his eyes and let out a sad sigh, running one hand over his face.

Eavan let loose a heavy sigh as she got up from the bed. She had to get apart from him for a moment to regain her composure. She felt her body beginning to call to him and her resolve was slowly beginning to crumble. “It’s a little cold.” She said as she pulled on simple cotton pants and tunic. She moved back to sit on the bed, looking into his eyes. “I’m sorry for your pain Thalmor. I wish there was something I could do to take it from you.”

Thalmor looked over at Eavan, and he leaned over and gave her a quick kiss. "Come with me," he said, getting off of the bed, grabbing her hand, and pulling her with him into a shadowy corner,"This is gonna feel weird." Then, he shadow-teleported them both outside, into the shadows cast by the trees int he moonlight. "Let's go over here. There's a small clearing away from the guards we can lay down in and look at the stars in." And with that, he led her through the trees to the clearing he was talking about. He led Eavan to the center of it and laid down, motioning for her to lay down with him.

Eavan felt an odd sensation as Thalmor moved them between the shadows. “That was cool!” she said as she moved to follow him to the clearing. Eavan laid on the ground beside him resting her head on his arm. “Breathtaking.” She said as she looked up into the dark night sky. The stars shone brightly overhead and only a sliver of moon peeked through the dark veil of sky.

Thalmor nodded, putting his arm all the way around Eavan and looking over at her. "They are beautiful," he said,"But they're not as beautiful as you, Eavan." He paused for a moment and then muttered,"They don't even come close."

Eavan rolled over to her stomach, her face within inches of his as she spoke. “Thank you.” She told him as her breath fell hot against his cheek. She took a breath, her chest expanding largely as she drew it deep. “Thank you for bringing me here.”

Thalmor smiled at Eavan, and said,"I'm glad you like it." His arm was still around her, and he took in the feel of her body against it. He looked straight into her eyes from where he lay. He could get lost in those eyes so easily. And the thing is, he wanted to.

Eavan kissed him softly on the lips then laid her head down on his chest. She moved her hand to softly trace over the collar around his neck. Her mind lay awash in a flood of thoughts and emotions as she felt her heart opening to him.

Thalmor kisses Eavan back when she kissed him, and started playing with her hair when she laid her head down on his shoulder. "Come on," he said to her,"We need to get you back to your room so I can get back to mine. It's about time." Thalmor stood up and walked back over into the trees, waiting for Eavan to follow him.

Eavan closed her eyes at the feel of his hands in her hair. Her heart beat began to quicken and she felt a pang of regret mixed with relief as he told her they needed to go. It was too dangerous, this game they were playing but she couldn’t help herself. She didn’t want to.
Eavan rose and bent over, brushing the debris from her. She walked over to Thalmor and put her arm around his waist and her head against his chest as she waited for the sensation of traveling through the shadows to take her again. “I’m ready.” She told him softly.

Thalmor put his arm around Eavan, bringing his other hand up to brush her hair out of her face and looked down at her. "Don't let go," he told her with a smile as he melted them into the shadows and they reappeared in Eavan's room. He walked out of the shadows with Eavan and turned to look at her. "I'll see you tomorrow night," he said, holding her close.

Eavan smiled up into his face as they blended back into the shadows. She was almost sorry to be back in her room but happy for their time together. “I’ll be waiting.” she whispered so close that her lips brushed against his neck as her breath warmed his skin.

Thalmor smiled at her Thalmor pulled back from Eavan just enough to look into her eyes and reach a hand up to stroke her cheek. "I know you will," he said, smiling. He leaned down and kisses her, holding it for several moments before breaking away. Then, he walked backwards into the shadows and shadow-teleported back to his room....

Eavan stood trapped in a perpetual moment of bliss as Thalmor kissed her. Her breath let out in a heavy sigh as she watched him leave her. She raised a hand to touch her cheek, closing her eyes before moving to the bed. The Void would be coming soon so she changed and climbed back into the bed. She could still smell his scent on the pillow as she pulled it close to revel in the memory of his feel on her lips. She smiled softly as she slowly drifted back to sleep.

The Void sat in his throne-room, waiting for the guards to bring his newest assassin up to see him. He had an assignment for her. One that she was sure to find quite....unappealing to her. He grinned as a guard came through the doors and bowed. "My Lord and Sovereign," he said,"The woman awaits outside." "Send her in," The Void said, smirking mischievously.

Eavan walked into the throne room with quiet confidence. She stood before the Void, slightly inclining her head. “My Lord and Sovreign. How may I be of service?” She said as she bowed to him. Eavan raised her eyes to look at the Void. Her heart tore as she saw the man whom she loved sitting before her but yet it wasn’t Thalmor who spoke to her now.

The Void grinned at Eavan. "I see you're finally learned your manners," he said,"That's good. I've called you here today to give you an assassination assignment. You are now my personal asassin. "And your first assignment is to kill a family of five, including the the young children, and retrieve an item that the father of the family stole from me. It is a golden cup. It has never been used. You should be able to find it easily enough. The Family's house is in the borderlands just outside Orlin. Now, go! Get out of my sight! I have important matters to deal with." With that, The Void dismissed Eavan to her new assignment.

Eavan nodded her assent and walked quickly from the throne room to her room. She opened the door. It felt much heavier than she remembered it feeling before. Her mind struggled with her choices within her mind knowing that she didn’t have any. This was a test. The Void was testing her loyalty to him and if she failed…she would loose Thalmor forever. She felt tears well within her eyes. Her body fell onto the bed as she gripped the pillow tightly within her hands. She could still smell Thalmor’s scent on it. Her tears fell quietly. What would he think?
Eavan gathered her strength, locking her emotions away as she steeled herself to what must be done. She gathered her supplies, including the slender vial which she slipped into the compartment of her leather sleeve.
The ride to the family’s home took a three days as she traveled around the rivers and surrounding towns. She thought of nothing but Thalmor on her way. The only way to defeat the Void was to help free Thalmor. The only way to do that was to stay within the Void’s employ, to stay close to him. The only way to do that was to kill a thief and four innocents. Her mind struggled with what she had to do. She would have to sacrifice this family in order to save thousands of families.
Eavan rode to the edge of the forest and dismounted her horse. She made her way to the home. The family was just sitting down to dinner. She saw the little girls and their older brother along with the mother and father. The golden cup sat upon the fireplace mantle. Eavan tried hard not to look at the children. Not to see their faces but she couldn’t help it. Her heart wrenched as she crouched low on the side of the house near the open window. She created a distraction using her power. Calling forth the thin rope of water, she gave it form and snaked it to the live stock pens. She let the cow loose causing it to make a ruckus as she danced the water in a form of a serpent to spook the cow. The beast made a mighty racket and Eavan let loose the water and crouched low waiting for the family to exit the home.
