Gorluk swung his great axe and the tree nearest to him fell. After a few more minutes the dense forest was now a bed of tree trunks. He went on to carving down the shards of wood so he wouldn't be completely uncomfortable.
After ten minutes of work Gorluk went down to a large stream and went to wash away some grime. he stripped away some parts of his armor so the water could get at his skin and the dried blood of some goblins from a week ago. He had left a score dead and a score running for the hills. The thought brought a smile to his face but it was wiped away when his ears picked up a noise from the side. His large hand found the hilt of his greatsword and he roared a challenge as he stepped out of the water.

Kia muttered under her breath as the branches snapped beneath her feet. She wasn’t usually so careless but the sites she had travelled through still haunted her mind. ‘Oh well,’ she thought, ‘no sense in hiding now.’ She rose slowly and walked forward. She shifted the large pack on her back and gripped the wooden staff loosely in her hand. She stood before the large figure emerging from the water.
“Sorry to interrupt your…bath. I was just passing through and thought to wash up before making camp. I’ll be on my way so as not to disturb you further.” She watched the figure cautiously. She was having trouble reading him at the moment and wasn’t inclined to close the distance between them for a better look.

Gorluk sniffed the air as he heard the speech. His guess was right it was a human and by the tone and inflection of her voice it was a female. He scratched his beard for a moment trying to consider what to do. Gorluk didn't like killing females of any race other than dwarf women, but he didn't know what her intent was.
"Step closer so I can see you women!" He dropped his greatsword's point to the ground and even drove it into the ground. "I will not harm you yet human unless you start something." Gorluk didn't know if he would keep his promise but that didn't bother him in the least. Nor would killing the female if he chose to. His sleep would be as deep as ever.

Kia moved closer seeing the Orc put blade tip into ground. Kia smiled softly. She knew he posed her grave danger yet she moved forward. She raised a brow as she considered him. “Do I look like a threat to one such as you Orc?” She held the staff loosely, using it to aid her steps. She had dealt with Orcs before and for the most part they let her be. She had shown the group she encountered a kindness, healing their wounds after a particularly gruesome battle.

Gorluk looked the puny human female up and down. She of course didn't look like a threat but Gorluk wasn't stupid like his race normally was there was more to this women than what seemed obvious. He saw a gain in this conversation if he could get some information out of her. She seemed the traveler with her staff and appearance so she had human connections which he didn't have.
"No you don't human, no you don't." His voice sounding more threatening than the friendly tone he wanted. "Sit so we can talk in a peace never known to our people."

Kia smiled softly and nodded, moving closer to the large Orc. She lowered her pack and sat on the ground beside a fallen tree, leaning the staff next to her. She looked the Orc over and took a breath to speak. “My name is Kia and I have found peace with some of your people before.” She reached for her pack and pulled out a package of dried meat. She tore off a piece for herself and held the rest to the Orc.

Gorluk nodded at the women as she sat down and he followed suit. He massive form completely and utterly dwarfed her though she didn't seem scarred. He had gained some respect for this women. After all it is always good to respect your enemies. He grinned wolfishly at the meat and licked his lips hungrily. He was going to hunt after his bath but this was good for now. He took it gingerly(for an orc) and tore into it. "My nae is Gorluk and I have killed many of your kind never wanting or finding piece." His words were mildly muffled between the bites of meat but he knew she could hear him.

Kia nodded. “Well you haven’t killed me yet. Why would that be?” she asked eyeing him with interest. “We both now you could easily but where would the profit of the act be?” Kia bit into the dried meat, chewing it slowly as she watched Gorluk. “Why exactly do you kill my kind?” She frowned for a minute then looked back at him. “What is my kind exactly? Generalizations can prove to be a mistake when dealing with individuals whether they be human, orc or other.” She turned her attention back to the meat within her hand.

Gorluk looked at the human female with renewed interest. She was the first to ever question his ideals. It was always straight forward see a human kill a human, see an elf kill an elf, see a dwarf destroy a dwarf, etc. Thats was the way of the orc and Gorluk lived completely by it. "You are human that is your kind and I haven't killed you yet is because what you said I think I might have some profit." Gorluk finished his meat with a large gulp and licked his chops heartily. He reached to his side and pulled out a large tankard and took a swig of mead.

Kia smiled. "And what profit do you think you might find with me?" she asked raising her brow. She stretched lazily and returned her sights back on the orc as he took a large swig of mead from a tankard. Kia pulled out her waterskin and took a long pull from it. She let some of the water splash on her face then wiped it with the back of her hand.

Gorluk laughed like only an orc could. This female was interesting and he might just let her live after this encounter just so they could meet again. " A profit is better when you come upon it unexpectedly so why don't we just talk?" Gorluk burst out into another burst of laughter upon seeing the human women spill water on her and abruptly spilled mead on himself.

Kia laughed as the Orc spilled the mead on himself. Her eyes glistened with amusement. “Why are you travelling alone Gorluk? Don’t Orcs usually travel in bands?” Kia really had no idea. Her time with the Orcs before had been brief. “I really don’t know a lot about your people. I healed a group of soldiers after a battle once. They were…friendly until they met my staff then they became polite.” She chuckled as she remembered the encounter.

occ: lol you said Eavan.
Gorluk stopped laughing when she asked why he was alone. His face was grim for a moment and he didn't show any sign of hearing what she said after that. It was still a sore spot when he talked about being exiled from his tribe. He was a great warlord but that wasn't was his tribe had wanted. They were a disgrace to the orc race and they didn't even deserved to be called orcs. He turned his head to the side and spat in anger. " I'm alone because I am strong." His voice held a silent anger that made his voice rumble.

Kia's breath caught as she felt the Orc's unspoken anger. She closed her eyes, clutching at her chest for a minute as she regained her breath. "I'm sorry." she told him as she opened her eyes to look back at him. She lowered her hand from her chest, shaking a little as she steeled herself against his intense emotion though his face shown none.

Gorluk's face still didn't show any emotion but his jaw started to quiver. He wanted to roar a challenge to the gods and ask them why he was forced to live like this. He was the greatest warrior of his people gifted with battle skill and a better mind then his brethren. This was a cruel fate he was given. He shook his head, but his anger was token for a moment as he watched the strange reaction from Kia. "Does my anger arose you?" Gorluk was truly surprised he didn't know humans to be like that.

Kia looked at Gorluk. “I’m sorry. I’ll be alright. I am different from most humans. I can feel emotions. Usually I can block them out but some stronger emotions are hard to contain.” She took a deep breath and picked up the waterskin taking another long drink. She wiped her mouth on the back of her hand as she looked at him. “See. Fine now.”

Gorluk listened to her explanation and raised his eyebrow interest. "I am happy I didn't kill you on sight then." He grinned at her then burst into some small chuckles. "Well now that I know I wont try to have any strong emotions as long as you don't bring up any sore topics. So what do you want to talk about?" Gorluk turned slightly t the side and as he adjusted his seat he made his sword support his weight so he could rest comfortably.

Kia smiled. "It's okay Gorluk. I'm glad you didn't try to kill me as well. I don't like having to hurt people." She smiled at him wider. "Tell me about anything. Anything at all."

Gorluk grinned at the human. He would never admit it but he liked the female. She had the spunk and attitude of an orcish women without the deceit and false truths or that's what he could see. "I say we bring up a topic that wont bring up any strong emotions from me." Gorluk pondered for a moment as he considered anything that would still have him be regular. He scratched his thick and dirty beard and his face took on a thinking pose. It looked completely comical on his brutish and scarred face. "Lets talk about you since everything in my life has to deal with and emotion."

Kia grinned as she looked at the orc. "Me huh. Very well." She moved to sit on the ground, leaning back against the tree. "Not much to tell. I travel the lands. Follow a star to lead my way. I help who I can and live off the generosity of others and the land."
